SAVE OUR SECOND AMMENDMENT RIGHTS!!!

I have recently felt like there must be more I can do to stand for our constitution and for liberty.  Despite everything that feels out of our control, like the swift fierce and very hungry tuna in in Swimmy by Leo Lionni, we must do as Swimmy advises "But you can't just lie there, we must THINK of something!" (yes, I now think in terms of children's stories :)  The only thing I've thought of so far is to put things up on this blog.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” (Thomas Jefferson Quoting Cesare Beccaria)

10 Reasons I like to walk.

I have several things and walking is definitely one of them.  Here are 10 reasons I like walking:

10: Less gas to buy.  Sure Weston works for big oil, but there are enough people buying oil without our help!  (It's expensive up here in AK!)

9: No parking: parallel or otherwise, I like not having to park which brings me too...

8:  No finding lost parked car! Blame lack of sleep, or distracting kids, I can rarely walk strait to my car out of a store when I do drive.

7.  It lets me use my stroller.  My double stroller is really great, but it really shines outside.

6. It gets me outside! Basically, if I don't get outside, I go crazy.  Crazy Em = Bad Em

5. Its low impact.  While I throw in a run here and there, (and I'm trying to run more) walking is so low impact, I never have sore knees when I'm done.

4. I can wear whatever I already have on! Sandals, jeans, skirts, nice knits, button-ups, t-shirts.  It's comfy to walk in just about anything

3. The kids love it (most of the time) Especially if I throw in a trip to the park, which I often do.

2. Its low stress.  Actually De-stressing would be more like it, driving gets me all wound up--no bueno.

1. IT JUST FEELS GOOD.

Counting in Julie-o is not for the faint of heart!

Today I started practicing "Julie-o"  John Boyle gave me the music YEARS ago when I met him in Miller.  He told me he was sure I could play it, I'm not as sure, but I think I can figure it out by practicing.  Which is what I started doing this evening, since Weston is still out on his intern field trip... And by practicing, I mean I watched you-tube videos of awesomely talented people playing Julie-o.

After listening to that, I tried to clap the syncopated rhythms... Yeah.  Half hour later I'd figured out a good three lines.

...And then I decided to take up Blogging.
